Love in Action
Hello E.C. Week Volunteers,
I hope this finds you all well.
As most of you know, the Friends of Fatima committee has been working hard over the past few months toward the goal of putting EC Week on the best path to move forward successfully. I can tell you that every member of the group, which includes Rick Adams, Frank Audy, Paul Broderick, Molly Carey, Bill Concannon, Chris Dawley, Mary McCabe, Mike Power, Tom Sexton, and Mike Sullivan, have put in a ton of time and effort toward that end. I am writing today with an update on those efforts.
First, we have created a new non-profit 501c3 entity that will manage the operation of the new camp. This was a paperwork heavy legal process that took awhile but I am happy to report that, as of this week, the articles of incorporation are filed and we can begin official operation shortly. As part of this new entity, a new board has been vetted and accepted the positions to lead it. They have a wide range of professional experience in finance, legal, health, and management fields, not to mention their extensive experience at EC Week. I believe that this is an incredibly strong group and I look forward to having them lead us forward. Please join me in welcoming Dan Conley, Maura Dartley-Rocco, Jim Dawley, Anne Keegan, and Liam Shaughnessy.
Second, we have been working with Camp Fatima to secure the funds and property that belong to us. They have been helpful in this process and, now that the new entity is legally created, we will begin to officially transfer those funds.
Third, we have a team that has been visiting and researching new camp locations. This research is ongoing and will continue until we find a suitable location to host EC Week into the future. Although the hope is to host EC Week in 2025, we know we must not just find an appropriate location, but also do it right and put ourselves in a position to host it for years into the future. The new board is taking this on and will provide updates as it progresses.
I’d like to thank both the current and past members of the Friends of Fatima for all of their years of fundraising and stewardship of EC Week. Also, thank you all for remaining dedicated, supportive, and patient throughout this process. Don’t forget about the reunion at Florian Hall on January 11th. I look forward to seeing you there.
Merry Christmas!
